New Years Resolution Tips

In this post, I am going to give you 4 New Year’s Resolution Tips for staying healthy in the new year.

For most people, the January calendar has hardly been taken out of the cellophane wrap before their New Year’s resolutions are broken. The first to go are often the healthy intentions we set for ourselves on December 31st.

The truth is that health-related New Year’s resolutions matter more as those calendars pile up and the years go by. So what’s the secret to making resolutions into habits?

It’s no secret. My greatest New Year’s Resolution Tip is that it’s a mindset shift.

I know you’re thinking, “duh, Judy“, but it really is true.

To help you stay steadfast in your resolutions, below are 4 healthy resolution tips you can keep in mind to mold your intentions into lifelong habits.

4 New Years Resolution Tips:

Tip #1. Be precise in defining your goals

For example, don’t just say more gym time. Commit to 3 days per week in a specific program.

Tip #2. Bring in reinforcements

Hold yourself accountable to a friend, and do the same for them.

Check-in at the same time every week so that you can hold each other accountable to your resolutions.

Tip #3. Create a Sensory Image

Instead of saying:

“I just want to look better”

Replace it with something like this:

“I want to wear a Little black dress and feel uber sexy and confident in it.”

or…

“I want to be able to run my hands down my thighs and feel good about their shape”

or…

“I want to be able to hike 4 miles with my friends and not feel winded.”

Tip #4. Keep a journal

My final New Year’s Resolution Tip is to keep a journal or fitness diary.

The benefits of working out happen over time. Here are 4 reasons why keeping a workout journal* makes you better at working out… and more likely to achieve your goals.

  • Adding a journal entry is like getting a gold star for doing your workout
  • You can track your stats and view your progress
  • It takes the guesswork out of selecting a weight/resistance band which means a more effective workout
  • When you feel discouraged look at your journal and see how far you have come
  • You look like a badass for being so organized 💪🏽
